A simple, reassuring home care aide resume template
Demand for home care is high almost everywhere, and agencies hire all year round. The care coordinator reading your resume is looking for someone trustworthy, independent and mobile, able to visit several clients a day. The Chicago template keeps your services at the center of the page, with your skills and certifications in a side column the coordinator can scan at a glance.
What to highlight
- Clients served: older adults, people with disabilities, families.
- Services: housekeeping and laundry, errands, meals, mobility assistance, companionship.
- Driver’s license and car.
- The area where you can work.
- Availability: weekends, holidays, split shifts.
- Training: home health aide certificate, CPR and first aid, short courses.
Describe your services with facts
Replace “helping older adults” with concrete details: “Visit 8 clients each week, 1 to 3 hours each”, “Prepare special-diet meals: low sodium, pureed textures”, “Accompany clients to medical appointments and errands”. The coordinator immediately sees the pace you’re used to.
Example summaries
- Experienced: “Home care aide for six years with older adults, home health aide certified. Looking for full-time work in the Louisville area.”
- Beginner: “After several years caring for a family member every day, I want to make home care my profession. Driver’s license and own car.”
- Career change: “Cashier for eight years, I’m moving into home care after earning my home health aide certificate and completing two placements.”
Show the trust placed in you
Discretion and reliability are essential: you enter the homes of vulnerable people, often with their keys. Show it: “Entrusted with keys and documents for eight clients”, “Same schedule for four years”, “Alerted the agency after a fall and called emergency services”. These facts reassure more than any list of qualities.
Employers in the field
Jobs are found at nonprofit and for-profit home care agencies, county aging services, senior care franchises, or with private clients. Cold applications to agencies in your area work very well. See also our caregiver resume template.
Useful training
A home health aide certificate is the field’s reference. Add short trainings: safe lifting and body mechanics, CPR and first aid, dementia care.
